There has been plenty of good releases in electro-house, fidget club banger genres as of late. Last weekend’s Wolfgang Gartner/Designer Drugs show has had me reconsidering whether or not electro is “dead”, but not everything I listen to should sound like Lyposuct or Bangduck, right? Recently I have been looking to find an escape from the pitchshifting buildups and distortion in favor of something different, the grooove.
I had the pleasure over the summer of getting into London to Paris by Mowgli. That was the summer groove. I had previously never been able to get into much house music since tracks are usually so long and my attention span so short. But lately the more subdued groove is killing it for me. Camel, and most recently Chaos in the CBD, a young duo of brothers from New Zealand, have the percussive tech(?) house vibe locked down. Chaos’ recent bootleg of The Nightcrawlers – Push The Feeling On has been on serious repeat for the past week, and has had me looking for more classic house jams. (Check out Nightcrawlers – Push The Feeling On here)
Camel’s Obrigado, from his Zig Zap EP mixes a lot of bouncy percussion and quick vocal snippets making this track fun to bob your head to. Check it.

Also if you haven’t heard it already, check out Chuck Roberts – My House acapella for a semi-religious house related awakening.
